I have been an accountant in practise for over 30 years working with a wide variety of businesses, charities and clubs. More recently I have moved into consultancy work assisting businesses and individuals in managing growth, major changes and business turnaround. This has provided me the opportunity to get under the skin of many different businesses and understand what it is like to operate and run most organisations instead of simply preparing accounts and tax schedules. This broad experience is something I intend to assist the NATD with in terms of change and growth strategy over the coming years.
Personally I started dance lessons 4 years ago as a present for my wife who loves dance and was keen for us to make a step up from shuffling about at various nights out. Amazingly I loved it and found the whole set up from a NATD teacher a really good experience and the chance to learn so many different dances has given me more confidence to step up on the dance floor. We both look forward to our dance lessons and the social aspect provided by the NATD and we are spreading the word.
Positions Held: Council of Management member.

I have worked for 10 years for the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) where I was involved in a number of high level initiatives including the review of the National Curriculum in 2000, the development and accreditation of general, vocational and occupational qualifications, developing strategies for learners working at Entry and level 1 in the National Qualifications Framework and the development of the Qualifications and Credit Framework.
Since leaving QCA in 2006, I have worked as a freelance Education Consultant, providing specialist advice and support for a wide range of education and training organisations. I supported NATD to become a recognised awarding organisation with Ofqual and CCEA and was appointed on to the Council of Management as a non-executive Director in 2015.
Positions Held: Council of Management member.

This unique dual skills base enables an understanding of both good safeguarding and the world of dance allowing her bring the two together to support high quality safeguarding practice across the sector.

I started ballet classes with the City Academy of Ballet, Peterborough, at the age of 8, firstly RAD up to grade 4 and later the Russian Style syllabus of the Federation of Russian Classical Ballet (FRCB). With some further study in London with the Harlequin Ballet Company I passed my first teaching exam with the FRCB in 1964 and took over as principal of the City Academy.
I took a break from teaching in the early 70’s but reopened the City Academy in 1976 when I started teaching the Classic Ballet (Russian Style) syllabus of the NATD. I passed my associate and member (now licentiate) exams in 1979 and fellowship in 1983. I was honoured to be appointed an examiner of Classic Ballet in 1998 and later to be elected Senior Examiner wherein I work to maintain the integrity of the Russian style. As a fan of contemporary dance I was delighted with the introduction to NATD of the contemporary syllabus which we also follow in my school and which I also enjoy examining.
Positions Held: Classic Ballet senior examiner, Theatrical branch examiner.

I am delighted and extremely honoured to be awarded Honorary membership of the NATD.
Having been General Secretary of the Theatre Dance Council International for the past 8 years I have worked closely with our eight member associations, which of course includes the “National”. I was absolutely delighted when the NATD decided to re-join the TDCI once again several years ago, having previously been a member for many years!.
My role in the TDCI includes organising all our major events. These include the British Theatre Championships, the English Theatre Championships, the TDCI Champion of Champions & Bursary Awards, the National Scholarships, the TDCI World Performer, and Theatre and Freestyle Carl Awards. The NATD are involved in all these events!!
I also deal with over 20 organisers of our regional Championships throughout the year, who present over 100 TDCI Championship titles in various genres of theatre dance. Ensuring they receive their certificates and medallions in good time, ready for their events. Also the competitors must have a TDCI registration card to compete in these events, so liaising with the teachers is a daily task required in order that all the Championship dancers are able to have the opportunity to compete in these prestigious events.
I am always busy and involved with many other tasks in the TDCI, and also as a Director of the Allied Dancing Association. However, I have always loved the National Association of Teachers of Dancing and the work it does, and what it offers it’s members.
It is fantastic that we have 8 associations under the TDCI umbrella for Theatre dance, and I am now proud to say I am an honorary member of two of these associations, being the IDTA and now the NATD. Thank you so much for bestowing this honour on me.

I am honoured to be a life member, fellow and honorary examiner of the NATD and I have been a member since 1985. My first theatrical professional exam was taken under Eileen Meacock and my Latin American professional exam under Jeanette Winter.
I have my own dance school in Malaysia, Henry Chan Dance Studio, which has operated for 40 years earning the Malaysia Book of Records for the longest operating dance school in Malaysia. I have also been the organiser for Malaysian medal tests and professional exams for the last 30 years.
Our first examiner was Syd Perkins and thousands of medals tests have been conducted here. I am happy to say the NATD is the No.1 dance association in Malaysia. I am happy to work with the NATD as it is a friendly and very efficient dance association. Under the guidance of CEO Kevin Page, I am sure we can work together to expand our dance examination business to our countries in Asia.

Many years ago when I was a young teacher I qualified in two dance organisations. When I had some pupils ready for their first examinations in Ballroom and Latin American, I telephoned one of the organisations to arrange a medal test at my studio. In those days they said I had to have enough in one genre to sent an examiner, but I only had enough if they took both genres. I telephoned the NATD and they said of course they would be only to pleased to send an examiner to my school. After many years of medal tests I am still with the NATD in both Ballroom, Latin American and Theatrical.
I would like to say that when I first attended meetings the other organisation made me feel unwelcome, but when I attended my first meeting of the NATD I was made most welcome, which helped me with my confidence as a young teacher.
In later years I became an examiner of the NATD in Ballroom, Latin American and Theatrical spending many hours examining abroad which has taken me to parts of the world I would have never seen. Thank you NATD for making me a very satisfied member of the NATD for 65 years.

The NATD has been a large part of my life since the age of 4. Having studied and gained my membership in the various Theatrical genres I then chose a career in performance, dancing with the Tiller Girls in the late 1960’s. Hanging up my feathers I ran a large dance school in South East London for almost 40 years.
I was delighted to be appointed an examiner in 1991. Since then I have been pleased and feel privileged to be part of several technical committees within the Association and in helping to plan the biennial Congress event in Cheltenham.

Yvonne Gilmore was born in Manchester and was trained initially by Pat Heywood, an NATD teacher who in turn was trained by Miss Nina Hodgson.
Gaining her first Associate status in National Tap, she continued her training whilst appearing in Pantomimes and Summer season revues. Eventually she entered the world of Musicals, appearing in the Pyjama Game and the King and I and there becoming Ballet Mistress.
She also spent a further three years touring the world with her husband appearing mostly in the Far East and even appeared on Japanese Television! She took a break when she lost her father and studied for a degree in Mathematics and from there commenced teaching in Secondary School.
The love of teaching and the lure of the theatre lead her back to dance. She started entering her pupils in NATD exams with such success that she was appointed as an Examiner. At this time she also represented the Northern Area on the Council of the National eventually achieving the honour of being appointed as the Chairman.

As immediate Past President of NATD, I have been privileged to represent The National and its members during the last 3 years at many events. To be elected by members to the Council of Management in this position of trust and responsibility within the association is a great honour and very humbling.
Dancing has always been an integral part of my life. I trained with our well-known Theatrical examiner Cynthia Haslam in Derby, whilst taking a degree in English and History (for some career security!) at Nottingham University. Following my passion led to the formation of several large dance schools across the East Midlands.
I was thrilled to be made a Theatrical Examiner in 1989 and then later Senior Examiner for the Ballet Branch. I am delighted to continue working as Quality Assurance Manager for NATD, which is interesting, varied and challenging and I look forward to the next decade for NATD with confidence.

I began my NATD journey when I was 3 years old with Miss Ada Daws at the Wimbledon School of Dancing.
Many years later, I was very fortunate to be trained for all my professional dance exams by Miss Eileen Meacock.
I started teaching in 1980 and am proud to still have pupils dancing with me who joined my school over 40 years ago. In some cases, I have taught 4 generations of the same families.
In 1987, I was invited by Miss Meacock to become a founder member of the London Area Theatrical Committee, a position that I still hold today. For many years, I enjoyed hosting NATD London Area Theatrical meetings at my studio in Morden.
I am so privileged that my love of dance has formed a very special ‘Dance Family’ within my school, with friendships that will last a lifetime.

I have been dancing for over 75 years and teaching for 60 years, qualifying with the N.A.T.D. at the age of 16 and opening my first School at 17.
I trained initially with Sheila Groom gaining Associate Tap and Ballet, continuing through with Jean Geddes to Fellowship Tap and Modern. I then continued gaining my Fellowship ballet with Annette Hufton.
Over the years the interest and demand grew, and I opened three separate Schools, hectic but very rewarding. As well as our N.A.T.D. exams we were involved in pantomimes and shows we loved taking part in fund raising events for local charities.
I was honoured to be made an NATD Theatrical Examiner and to be given the opportunity to examine abroad meeting some lovely people and seeing so much talent emerging.
Dance has helped me form bonds of friendships thorough generations, having taught pupils, their children and even their grandchildren. I have had the best of times.

I first became a member of the NATD after attending a seminar with my former school partner Ann Goodwin, who had been trained and taught Modern and Tap in this method. I was approached by Maude Wells who suggested I should take my qualifications with the association.
I later became an examiner for the NATD at the instigation of Cynthia Haslam and Eileen Meacock. I am extremely grateful to these remarkable teachers for their help and advice, without whom I would not have enjoyed my interesting past and present career with the NATD.
Positions Held: Theatrical branch examiner.
