I started dancing at the age of 7 at the Mary and Molly Richardson School of Dance, now known as County Dance, in Reading. Just a few weeks after joining the children’s beginners class I found myself taking my first medal test with the NATD. Some short weeks later I was encouraged to take part in my first NATD medal competition at the iconic Watford Colosseum. I have been dancing ever since and have continued to take exams and participate in medallist competitions.
From there I went on to compete on the open circuit where my love for dance only grew. I was very fortunate to have the support and guidance of Mary Richardson and the rest of the County team which only fuelled my competitive career helping me to achieve many years of continued success. I have also had the privilege of spending many hundreds, if not thousands, of hours training under some of the worlds most decorated and respected teachers, coaches and mentors that the dancing world has to offer.
My favourite memories include winning the U21 ten dance championships at the Closed UK and of course dancing with my wife Anna, in many open, national and international championships at some of the most beautiful and world renowned competitions. My proudest memories include dancing in the finals of the British National Championships at Blackpool, the finals of the Closed UK championships and of course International Rising Stars semi finals.
Now that we have started a new chapter as parents and teachers I am very proud to be one of the NATD’s examiners, something I aspired to greatly as a child.
