The candidates will take part in a 30-minute class in the dance genre/s they have been entered in. The classes will be taken by experienced professionals who all have a wealth of knowledge in the above dance genres.
The area organisers will select adjudicators for the heats. Adjudicators will mark each candidate out of 50. If there is more than one adjudicator, marks will then be averaged to give an individual overall score. The 5 top scoring candidates from each category and section will then go through to our Grand Finals of solo performances in Birmingham on Sunday 1st October.

Once all of the entries are received you will then be sent out further information and a timetable for the Heats. This event is open to all of our Theatrical Schools and we welcome you all!

HOW TO ENTER – Candidate entry is strictly through the school principal who is an NATD teacher with a current membership card.
Entry Forms can be downloaded here and can be completed online, alternatively, you can contact your area representative below for an entry form.
Once completed, please return to us using the email address below and make full payment to the bank details shown on the entry form. PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS THE AREA ACCOUNT DETAILS

2023 theatrical Scholarships Rules
THE GRAND FINALS
Sunday 1st October 2023

The winners from each heat will now come together to perform solo numbers in the genre they were chosen. The solo performance must be 1 and a half to 2 minutes in length and must be fully costumed with theatrical stage make-up. There will be 20
candidates per section but in the event of a tie, the committee will grant an extra place.
There will be 2 adjudicators for the finals, both of whom are professionals in the dancing world. Once again they will each mark out of 50 and their scores will be combined. Candidates will be marked purely on their solo performance. As of January 2023 marks from the heat will not be taken into consideration anymore at the Grand Finals.
AWARDS
3rd place, runner up, and our NATD Scholarship Champions 2023 will all receive a commemorative trophy.
The scholarship winners will receive Ā£100 prize money.
All participants at the Finals will receive a Scholarship trophy.
Tickets for the Grand Finals will go on sale nearer the time, once all 4 heats have taken place.
Grand Finals ticket prices as follows…
Ā£25.00 Adult Ā£15.00 Child (16 and under), Members Ā£ 20.00 *Free to the entering teachers. (only one free teacher per school)
